From soft natural materials to warm tones throughout her apartment, Danijela has created a home that feels both thoughtful and inviting. In this edition of Juniper’s Everyday Stories, she shares some of her favourite moments throughout the day, from early morning coffee in the bathroom while the house is still quiet, to evenings gathered in the living room with her family.

Together, we sat in her kitchen, the heart of it all, and talked about design, atmosphere, and the little details that make a space truly personal.

A home that feels

Let’s start with that first feeling you get walking into a room...

“Interiors aren't just about how something looks, it's how it feels,” Danijela begins. “A room should embrace you. I always notice the atmosphere first: the light, the scent, the calm. Then come the details.”

The Bathroom - A place of stillness

Danijela, we read somewhere that the bathroom is your favorite room, tell us why.

“That’s absolutely true. For me, the bathroom is my space for myself - it’s where I begin and end my day. I’ve chosen natural stone, warm metals, and soft lighting to create a spa‑like stillness. It’s meant to feel like a break from the everyday.”

And how do textiles and scent come into play?

“They make all the difference. A soft towel, a beautiful soap, and the glow of a candle can shift the whole feeling. Even a short shower can become something luxurious.”

Do you have any routines in the bathroom that have become part of your daily rhythm?

“Absolutely,” Danijela says. “Our mornings vary - life with small kids has its own rhythm - but one thing that always stays the same is my coffee. I often bring my first cup of the day into the bathroom while the kids are still asleep. That moment is just mine."

The Living Room - Room full of Life

Let’s talk about your living room, what makes it special to you?

“There’s so much love in this renovation,” Danijela says warmly. “Every room holds something I care about. Together with our designers, we’ve created a home where everything flows, but still feels personal.”

Is there a piece or detail in the room that stands out?

“I’m especially drawn to the original plasterwork. But the mirror above the fireplace, that’s my favorite. It’s moved with us through several homes. By now, it feels like part of the family.”

And how do you use the room in your day-to-day life?

“I’m not in there much during the day, but in the evening, that’s where we gather as a family. It’s all about play, connection, slowing down. On weekends, if we’re not out at our summer house, it becomes our little nest, blankets, snacks, movies. The highlight of the week.”

The Kitchen - The heart of the home

We sat down in the kitchen for the interview, the very heart of Danijela’s home. Over coffee and conversation, we talked, laughed, and got to know each other better. And it makes perfect sense, this space invites connection.

“Oh, it’s absolutely the heart of our home,” she says. “It’s where everything happens. We cook, catch up on the day, the kids draw while we prep dinner. I love that it naturally becomes a space where friends and family gather.”

What sets the tone in your kitchen?

“Warmth and light, the materials and scents, but more than anything, it’s the people in it. It’s both functional and beautiful, but above all it’s alive.”

Creating Calm in the Bedroom

How do you think about color and mood in the bedroom?

“I always return to warm, earthy tones, beige, soft olive, muted greys and browns. We’ve kept the whole apartment within a unified palette to make everything feel soft and intentional. For me, the bedroom is a place for rest. It’s where the colors speak softly and everything is there for a reason.”

Designing for the Little ones

What was important to you when designing your children’s room?

“I wanted the children’s room to feel playful, but still calm. I thought a lot about light, smart storage, and space for imagination. I love mixing old and new and designing a room that grows with them. It should feel like a safe place, both for play and for quiet.”
