Let's be honest
A Juniper bed set costs about four and a half times as much as one from the big box retailer. We won't pretend otherwise. But you don't buy bed linen for one night. You sleep in it every night, for years. So that's how we think it should be counted.
Counted per night
Like for like: a duvet cover, a sheet and two pillowcases. We count over 1 000 nights, about five years if you rotate two sets. First as if the cheaper set lasted as long as ours, which is generous to it. Then as it more likely goes, with ours lasting at least 50% longer.
| Juniper | Big Box Retailer | |
|---|---|---|
| Bed set, 4 pieces | 4 500 kr | About 1 000 kr |
| Cotton | 100% Supima | Standard cotton |
| Per night, if both last as long | 4.50 kr | 1.00 kr |
| Per night, with ours lasting 50% longer | 4.50 kr | 1.50 kr |
| The difference | 3.00–3.50 kr a night | – |
What four kronor a night buys you
1. Softer from the first night, and with every wash
Supima is an extra-long staple cotton, and less than 1% of the world's cotton qualifies. Longer fibres spin into a finer, smoother yarn with fewer loose ends. Standard cotton gets rough and pills as its short ends work loose. Ours does the opposite and gets softer the more you wash it.

2. It sleeps cooler
Long-staple cotton breathes and lets moisture out, so you don't wake up clammy under the duvet. Our sateen has a dense 430 thread count, single-ply, which keeps it smooth without trapping heat. If you always sleep warm, our Tencel percale is cooler still.
3. It lasts for years
Stronger fibres mean less pilling and less thinning, wash after wash. That's the second line of the sum above: when the cheaper set needs replacing a third of the way sooner, the difference drops to 3 kronor a night.
4. The hotel feeling, every night
Mathilda started Juniper after a stay at a small hotel on Mallorca, sleeping in sheets so good she kept thinking about them long after she'd left. That feeling shouldn't be something you only get on holiday.
Four kronor a night is less than 30 kronor a week. Less than a latte, for something you feel every time you get into bed.
5. Fewer, better things
Once the cotton is spun into yarn, it travels to a family-owned factory in Portugal that has been weaving bed linens since 1948. There, the yarn becomes our 430 thread count sateen and is organically dyed in its final colour.
In 2020, we decided every Tier-1 factory in our supply chain would sit inside the EU, where worker protections are stronger by law. That decision costs more than sourcing from wherever is cheapest that quarter – and it's not one we've reconsidered.

Questions
Counted per night, the difference is under four kronor, and about 3 kronor once you count that ours lasts at least 50% longer. For that you get Supima cotton that gets softer with every wash and sleeps cooler. If it doesn't feel worth it after 30 nights, you can send it back.
With normal care we estimate around 1 000 nights of use. If you rotate two sets, that's more than five years. The extra-long Supima fibres are what keep it strong: they pill and thin far less than standard cotton.
Wash every one to two weeks, separately, at 40 to 60°C, around 1000 rpm. Tumble dry on a low setting or hang while damp to ease creases. Iron if you want that crisp hotel finish.
Our large duvet cover is 230×220 cm and the single is 150×210 cm. Pillowcases come in 60×50 cm as standard, and sheets in several widths. Check your duvet's size before you order. If something doesn't fit, exchanges are free.
