A Bathrobe Made for Slow Mornings
How a staircase in Valldemossa became the blueprint for the Finca and Hôtel bathrobes.
Coffee on the balcony, the first quiet hour.
We wanted a bathrobe for the fifteen minutes after you wake up and before the day asks anything of you. Coffee on the balcony, the paper nobody reads anymore, the first quiet hour. It had to feel less like a garment and more like being held.
A belt sewn on rather than threaded through loops, so it never works its way out in the wash.
Inspiration from Valldemossa
The first sketches happened on a staircase in Valldemossa, a village pressed into the hills above Palma, on the back of a receipt because nobody had thought to bring paper. The colours came from what was around us: lemon trees against whitewashed walls, terracotta roofs gone soft in the sun, the particular green of the juniper that grows wild along the coastal paths.
Two details mattered more than the rest. Pockets deep enough to actually hold something, not just your hands. And a belt sewn on rather than threaded through loops, so it never works its way out in the wash. Pedro, who has run the same factory floor in Portugal for over twenty years, talked us out of three other ideas before we landed on this one. He was right every time.
Finca and Hôtel: the same Supima cotton terry, two different moods.
Two robes, one philosophy
The Finca and the Hôtel are cut from the same 100% Supima cotton terry, on the same factory floor, to the same standard we hold every towel and sheet to. The difference is mood. Finca is striped and a little playful, named for the farmhouses scattered across the island. Hôtel is quieter, a single colour, the shape you would hope to find hanging in a good hotel bathroom, which is exactly the idea.
Both are cut oversized and unisex, sized by height rather than anything else, so the fit is one less thing to think about at seven in the morning.
Folded and ready, however your morning starts.
Washing guide
Wash on a gentle cycle at 40°C, tumble dry low, and skip the fabric softener, it coats the terry loops and dulls the absorbency that makes these robes worth having. For the full routine, see our care and washing guide.
If you are not sure whether Finca or Hôtel is the one for your mornings, our team is always happy to talk it through before you order.
