The creative mind behind Juniper
Juniper was started after an amazing experience at a boutique hotel in Mallorca in 2018. Mathilda wanted to bring the same feeling she had experienced at that hotel into her, and other people’s everyday life.
Luxury home goods were indeed already available but an inefficient supply chain had caused inflated prices and value chain transparency was essentially non-existent.
So she decided to start Juniper, only producing goods in the EU, using the finest raw materials available, and always being able to trace them back to the origin to ensure accountability and ultimately sustainability.
Juniper is owned and operated by Mathilda Wibom Westerberg.
Progress towards our principles of responsible production
Juniper has set out 17 principles of responsible production and for each product we assess how far we have gotten in progressing towards those principles. The 17 principles are aggregated into three scores ranging 0 to 100.
- No raw materials from the animal kingdom are used while making this produkt and no animals are used as any part of the value chain
Supima are using advanced technology to have an as minimal impact as possible on the planet, however, cotton is still a crop in great need of water. One large sheet requires about as much water as producing 0.5 kg of red meat.
Juniper will make selected financial contributions to promote biodiversity. However, we haven’t yet started with this. But our end-goal is to have this in place in beginning of 2023.
Our factory is located in Portugal.
Reusing & Recycling
Sleeping is essential, as everyone who has just become a toddler parent knows. With Juniper's The Bed Set, we long to go to the bed. The feeling is fantastic — crazy good. We will eventually replace all our bed linens with Juniper. WOW, 10 out of 10!
I didn't think it would make a big difference, but I was wrong. The Bed Set was a gift to my wife, and she could not even get out of bed this morning! The best quality!
We have always bought the same kind of satin sheets from a well-known Swedish supplier. Now they have got a competitor who can deliver excellent quality bedlinens. Nice work!

How does Juniper bed linens differ from “regular” bed linens?
The vast majority of bed linens are created from long-staple cotton, we create ours from 100% Supima extra-long-staple cotton. In other words, we use better raw materials.
From this superior raw material, we create a 430 thread count sateen weave which is simply sublime. Most regular bed linens will have a considerably lower thread count.
Finally, the bed linens are sewn by skilled textile artisans in a family-owned factory in Portugal that has been around since 1948. The quality of the craftsmanship is extraordinary.
All in all, the feeling of getting into bed at night is amazing. It is like climbing into a bed at a luxury boutique hotel or always having the cold side of the pillow up. Describing a feeling is difficult, but read the reviews at the bottom, and you’ll see that almost all customers agree.
Why is Juniper able to sell bed linens in this quality at a lower price point than traditional brands?
A traditional brand has the majority of sales through third-party retail stores. Typically a third-party retail store wants a 100% markup to cover the cost of the store, staff, and overhead. Naturally, this will impact the price that the traditional brands can offer, and even if they do sell through their own website, they will need to keep the same price level.
Juniper sells primarily through its own channels, which allows us to offer the same product at a much better price.
Are Juniper bed linens right for me?
Yes. As long as you are not in the market for completely different style weaves such as linen or flannel we are confident that our bed linens are right for you.
In fact, we are so confident that these bed linens are right for you that you can buy our bed linens and try them in the comfort of your own home for 30 days. And if you, for any reason, don’t want to keep the bed linens, we will take them back and issue a full refund. As simple as that.
What does 430 thread count mean?
Thread count is calculated by adding the numbers of lengthwise (warp) and widthwise (weft) threads within a square inch of fabric. A more tightly woven fabric will generally feel softer, given everything else is the same.
When Juniper was first started, we prototyped various thread counts and had a group of people try the different products. More than four out of five people in that group indicated they preferred a thread count in the 400-500 range, so we listened to their advice and created bed linens with a 430 thread count. They are supremely soft but still breathe so you can sleep throughout the night without becoming too hot.
What is Supima cotton and how is it better for me?
Not all kinds of cotton are equal. Supima and regular cotton are, in fact, two different and distinct species of cotton. The most common type of cotton grown worldwide typically has a fiber length of only about 1 inch, whereas Supima cotton’s fiber averages 1.5 inches. Shorter fibers produce yarns that are rougher and subject to pilling on the surface of the product, while longer fibers contribute to strength and softness.
Supima cotton is grown at 500 primarily family-owned farms mainly located in California. It represents less than 1% of cotton grown worldwide and is the most expensive widely commercially available cotton in the world due to its high quality standards and commitment to sustainable farming.
How long will the bed linens last?
Even if you use the bed linens every day, you should comfortably expect to get more than five years of use out of them if you take care of them properly. Our general recommendation would be two have two sets at home per bed, meaning you should be able to have them around for ten years without any problems at all.
The superior cotton we use to create these sheets is stronger than regular cotton, so they should last a very long time. If you buy them in white, it is also rather easy to make them white again. If you opt for a color, however, it will naturally fade over time, and at some point, you might decide it is time for new ones.
