Small details that make a big difference in your guest bathroom

When I started Juniper, I became almost obsessed with the feeling of a well-considered home. Especially the small spaces. The ones you don’t always think about, but that say the most.
The guest bathroom is one of them.
With a few thoughtful choices, it can feel calm, welcoming and quietly luxurious - almost like a boutique hotel. Here are five things I always come back to.
1. Keep it minimal
For me, this is always the starting point.
A guest bathroom should feel calm the moment you step into it. I usually remove anything that doesn’t need to be there and let only the essentials remain, a hand soap, a towel, maybe one considered detail.
The fewer things you see, the more intentional everything feels.
Think hotel, not everyday clutter.
2. Invest in guest towels
This is something I always notice when I visit someone’s home. Having dedicated guest towels instantly makes the space feel more thoughtful. I like placing them out in the open, neatly folded or hung, never hidden away.
It’s a small gesture, but it creates that feeling of being expected rather than accommodated.
3. Add face towels
If you want to elevate the experience, this is such an easy addition. I always love when there are smaller towels available, it feels considered in a very effortless way. It gives your guests the option to freshen up, and adds that subtle hotel-like touch.
It’s one of those details you might not expect, but always appreciate.
4. Work with scent (subtle, but intentional)
This is where the atmosphere really comes together for me. A beautiful hand soap, maybe a hand lotion, and ideally a scented candle lit just before guests arrive. It shouldn’t be overpowering, just enough to create a warm, inviting feeling.
Scent is often the first thing you notice, even if you don’t realise it.
5. Think in a color palette - not individual choices
This is something I come back to in everything we do at Juniper. When the colors in a space work together, towels, soap, small details, the whole room instantly feels more calm and elevated.
It doesn’t have to be complicated. Just consistent.
